It’s time to ask the big question: are you iPhone or Android?

So over the past week or so, I’ve been asking questions about what you, dear readers, look for in smartphones, which iPhone 17 model you picked, whether iPhones are overrated, and so on. But it’s just occurred to me that I haven’t asked the most basic question: are you iPhone or Android?

As you’ll see on our list of the best phones and our supporting lists of the best iPhones and best Android phones, the Phones team at TechRadar is open to great smartphones from both camps.

But in general, a good few of us do use iPhones; for me, an iPhone 4S was my first smartphone until 2015, when I moved to Android, and then 2021, when I moved back to iPhone and have stayed there since.

However, I’m curious about what phones you use. As a reader of TechRadar, I can assume you’ll have a passing interest in consumer technology, or are even a die-hard tech fan. And conventional wisdom would say people who just want a good smartphone that does everything well and fuss-free will go for an iPhone, while folks who want to dive deeper into their phone and customize it to the core will opt for an Android phone.

However, things have changed. Android phones now have a lot of the slick software DNA of iOS, while iPhones have started to open up a bit more. So it’s hard for me to guess with a lot of confidence as to what phones TechRadar readers and visitors use.

And thus it’s over to you. Vote in the poll below, and then head to the comments and let me know why you chose the phone you’ve got.

If all this has you thinking you’re ready for a phone upgrade or a swap to a different platform, can I suggest you keep an eye on the Black Friday deals, as I think this might just be a great time to go hunting for a good phone bargain.
