“Stand by me” could have referred to the Ben E King song or the 1987 film starring River Phoenix. Instead, we were looking for words that describe the act of standing by someone and offering them SUPPORT at a time of need.
I digress, but in Googling the film Stand By Me I noticed that its runtime was one hour and 27 minutes, something that seems incredible today in our era of ultra-long movies and similarly ultra-long TV episodes. The length of a movie is a big deciding factor for me in whether I will bother to go to a theater to see it or not. Too long and I’ll usually duck out.
Fortunately, my attention span was less challenged by today’s Strands, which – disregarding some lengthy words – was a straightforward affair.

What is NYT Strands?
Strands is the NYT’s not-so-new-any-more word game, following Wordle and Connections. It’s now a fully fledged member of the NYT’s games stable that has been running for a year and which can be played on the Enjoy games site on desktop or mobile.
