A cryptic message from the Prophet brings the No, I’m not a Human cat to life. But where can you find this feline friend? Its arrival may leave you torn; letting it in means you’re letting a Visitor infiltrate your sanctuary. But leaving it with that thing only means death for the poor kitty that just wants a home.

This new feline companion is worth the Visitor risk when it comes with a mechanic that wasn’t around in either the Anthology version or Steam Next Fest demo. So, here’s everything you need to know about the cat in No, I’m not a Human.

Where to find the cat in No, I’m not a Human

Much like Schrödinger’s cat, your new pet sits on the line between life and death if you turn the cat lady away at the door. Always appearing on night four, you must let the cat lady in if you want to save the cat’s nine lives—and use some of them to your advantage. Your guests will stay safe so long as you don’t have another Visitor present when the cat lady enters. Turning this blatant Visitor away means condemning the cat, whose body will be disposed of underneath your house. Lovely.

Turns out the cat and the Visitor it comes with were destined to meet you. Both she and the Prophet knew this day would come and that you’d need the cat, indicated by the dialogue and claw marks scratched into the cat lady’s arms. While they don’t know each other, it’s clear some other force had a play in getting this cat to you. But why?

How does the No, I’m not a Human cat mechanic work?

The cat has one of the most helpful mechanics in No, I’m not a Human. It can protect your guests from Visitors. But, you need to feed it if you want a restful night. For a day free of consequences, you must learn the ForRest number either by watching the television (clicking on it after the news) or listen to the radio broadcasts. You can often get this number on the second day (so long as you clicked on the television on both the 1st and 2nd).

Use the telephone by the front door during the day and call ForRest. The number is randomized per playthrough. It is only upon inviting the cat lady in that you can purchase two cat food the following morning. You can then feed the cat by interacting with it during the day, granting you a night of peace, where no amount of Visitors can disturb you and your guests’ beauty sleep. The cat food works only for that very night, following you feeding it. You can only purchase from ForRest every other day. Therefore, if you fed the cat on day six and seven, your tenants would be in danger on the eighth.

This mechanic is particularly useful if you have no choice but to let Visitors in, keeping the tenant number from hitting zero, thus saving yourself from an early grave at the hands of the Super Imposter in the Yes, I’m Alone ending. It’s also helpful combined with the FEMA Notice when tasked to keep the cultists alive from night eight. So, stock up on cat food (from ForRest or taken as a bribe) to keep your tenants safe, if only for a couple nights.
