Google on Wednesday rolled out the Android 16 QPR1 Beta 1.1 to developers and testers. Initially introduced on Pixel, the update arrives almost two weeks after Google released Android 16 following the I/O 2025 developer conference. It is said to carry fixes for various issues reported by users in previous iterations. This includes resolutions for a bug that caused the navigation buttons to become unresponsive, fingerprint authentication failure, and app crashes.

Android 16 QPR1 Beta 1.1 Changes

Google’s release notes state that the new Android 16 QPR1 Beta 1.1 update fixes an issue where navigation buttons would become unresponsive, reported on the Google Pixel 8. This was said to occur on the home screen or the app drawer when swiping through the app pages. The navigation buttons would return to normal functionality if any app was opened.

It also fixes two situations which resulted in crashes. As per Google, one of the crashes occurred when trying to open effects in wallpaper. Another caused the Settings app to crash when accessing the battery menu.

One of the bugs reported in previous iterations of Android 16 Beta impacted the lock screen where the date would get cut off when using a wide clock style. In another instance, the fingerprint authentication would fail on a device where multiple users were registered. This occurred in low-power conditions. Users also reported an issue which caused the search button to have a different colour when scrolling. All of these problems are said to have been fixed with Android 16 QPR1 Beta 1.1.

The update also carries rectifications for the missing approve button in Device Admin settings, dark album labels appearing in photo picker, and disappearance of date on the home screen.

Android 16 QPR1 Beta 1.1 Update Compatibility

Google says all eligible devices enrolled in the Android Beta for Pixel programme will be offered Android 16 QPR1 Beta 1.1 as an over-the-air (OTA) update. This includes:

  • Google Pixel 9 Series
  • Google Pixel 9a
  • Google Pixel 8 Series
  • Google Pixel Tablet
  • Google Pixel Fold
  • Google Pixel 7 Series
  • Google Pixel 6 Series

Pixel users can check for the update by navigating to Settings > System > Software update > System update > Check for updates.
